First blog.

IMG_3847Welcome to my first blog. I’m new to this, so be gentle.

My name is Jess. I moved from rural South Australia to Western Australia 3 and a half years ago, with my husband and our three boys. We left behind our family, friends and amazing support system for my husband to pursue his career. To anyone this might seem like an exciting adventure, but for me it was the scariest thing I’ve ever done.

Our three boys are loud, crazy, intelligent and funny. They also happen to all have a form of autism. I like to say it’s our trifecta. From Monday to Friday I am the sole carer for the boys as my husband works away from home during the week. The boys fall in order from our oldest at the highest end of the spectrum, Aspergers + ADHD. Our middle child who is smack bang in the middle of the spectrum, mild functioning autism. Lastly our youngest who is at the lowest end, classic or severe autism + Global Developmental Delay or GDD for short.

I wanted to start this page to share not just our journey, but to raise more awareness to the spectrum that autism is. How each individual child with autism is exactly that, an individual. No two are the same, or display the exact same symptoms.

My older two are completely verbal (maybe too verbal 😂) my youngest is completely non-verbal. He doesn’t use any words, he manages to still gets his point across though!

Thank you for visiting my page and following us,

Jess.

  1. Good luck with this my darling girl. Hopefully it is a positive experience rather than a negative. I managed to raise three very smart children who know how and when to get a point across. I have three exceptional grand children who I am very proud of, they are lucky to have you and Jeff as their parents.

  2. HI there, well done on your first blog.
I used to work with your mum at chickenland, and know Jeff’s mum too. I’ve been blogging for about five years. I run a link up on Mondays at http://onemotherhen.blogspot.com , you are welcome to join in to get some attention for your blog. I have a friend who joins in also (My home truths) who has kids on the spectrum, and is someone you could relate to in the blogging world. My eldest son has Aspergers, and has recently been diagnosed with Schizophrenia. Welcome to the blogosphere x
